Katich and CA come at Loggerheads

Losing certainly isn’t in the Aussie blood. They can never withstand defeat. While the sub-continental players will keep numb even after their unfair axing, it is not the same case in Australia. Recently Simon Katich was removed from the centrally contracted list of players with CA, though he was one of the consistent performers for Australia as well as his state side New South Wales. It was unfair to tell the least but Katich decided to go up in protest. Katich has been an opener for the Australian team after Matthew Hayden decided to end his illustrious career. He has 10 test and 1 one-day century to his credit. But he has been out of favour of newly appointed captain and chief selector.

Simon Katich spoke to the Press about his Exclusion
Ricky Ponting, the ex-captain of Australian cricket team always looked upon Simon Katich as a promising talent and backed him through many hard times. But with the recent resignation from captaincy of Ponting and estranged relationship between Micheal Clarke, newly appointed captain of the Australian team have seen Katich out of the list of centrally contracted players. As the news from the dressing room goes Katich and Clarke had a major confrontation during the test series against South Africa in 2010. There was a heated argument on when the team should start singing their national song and it ended with Katich grabbing the throat of Clarke.

Katich feels this incident was the prime factor for his exclusion from the national side. He even blamed Clarke of trying to end his career due to the past incidences. Though the new chairman of selectors John Inverarity has claimed that the door for Katich’s return are always open yet Katich has different views “"It's pleasing to hear but I think you don't have to be Einstein to figure out that it's not just the selectors that had a part in sending me on my way, I mean to be brutally honest obviously what happened in the dressing room here a few years ago didn't help my cause. And obviously the captain and coach are selectors. “

Michael Clarke & Simon Katich have an Estranged Relationship
Katich also expressed his displeasure at the CA. He revealed that the CA has not contacted him or his state board regarding his axing. "I just think that no-one's been in touch since that happened, it's pretty disrespectful I think from my personal point of view. Given I've been contracted for 11 years, to not have any contact whatsoever that's pretty disappointing” said Katich. When the Chairman of Selectors was contacted he revealed an entirely different story. According to John Inverarity all the steps that should have been followed were duly fulfilled. CA has a particular process when a player is axed; the Chairman of Selectors has a talk with the player and the state association.

Michael Clarke on his part has rubbished the accusations saying that he was not a selector when Simon Katich was dropped and had no role to play in this decision. He has also claimed that CA took such a decision to bring in new blood to the national team and there was no vengeance in this decision.

Simon Katich After One of his Test Centuries
Simon Katich will have to pay for public outburst and detrimental behaviour against the people in charge. He has been reported under Cricket Australia’s Code of Behaviour.
